Jumellea confusa Schltr.

This now very rare species originally occurred in central and eastern Madagascar at around about 700-1600m in elevation as an epiphyte. Its habitat, apparently, has now been reduced to almost nothing. This is a classic example of why qualified parties should be allowed to artificially propagated endangered plants from areas that have been closed off to concerned conservationists or hindered by C.I.T.E.S. laws, in particular germinated material in vitro on schedule 1.

This is a beautiful species growing well in intermediate bush house conditions or as an epiphyte in the garden in protected temperate climates. When happy this species can flower several times a year. The large pure white blooms are produced from the base of the leaves and from the stem just below the leaves.
