Restrepia contorta cv. albo-rosea
Restrepia contorta (Ruiz &Pavon) Luer
First named as Humboldtia contorta by Ruiz & Pavon in 1798 from plants they collected in Peru. This species along side of R. guttulata and R. trichoglossa Lehm. ex Sander, would have to be one of the most variable is size, colour, and lip morphology from with in the whole genus. The blooms can reach between 23-38mm long and can be either striped or spotted, sometimes a bit of both, and they have incredible colour variation between geographical colonies. In fact I consider this to be one of the most interesting, and sometimes challenging species in the genus.
However, no matter which clone/s one may end up with, it is a highly rewarding and colourful species, of very easy culture.
