Restrepia pelyx clone 3

Restrepia pelyx Luer & Escobar

The local Colombians call this species "La Taza", which translates to "The Cup". Looking at the pictures perhaps you can see why. This is not a common species in collections, in fact it is quite rare. The form normally encountered on those rare occasions is a largely yellow flower spotted purple-maroon from Colombia. An even rarer form is a red coloured species heavily spotted maroon, which apparently hails from Venezuela. A third clone, similar to the red clone is known, which has a very deep, almost fluorescent flush of bright rose through the flower origin unknown.
